WHAT:
On Thursday 2/26/26, Newark Middle School PTSA will host an interactive PTA Connected: Be Internet Awesome & Meet LEO (Learn & Explore Online) workshop for families. During the event, parents and caregivers will engage in meaningful and interactive peer-to-peer conversations about raising children in an online world; create a shared understanding of healthy online habits and the tools available to support them; and what it means to Be Internet Smart, Alert, Strong, Kind and Brave.
NMS PTSA was selected by National PTA from among PTAs nationwide to receive a $1,250 grant to support us in conducting the workshop. There will be food, door raffle prizes and swag bags for the first 80 attendees!
The grant was made possible by proud National PTA Sponsor Google. NMS PTSA is one of only 55 middle school PTAs selected to receive a grant for the 2025-2026 school year.
The workshop and grant are part of a collaboration between National PTA and Google. The collaboration is part of National PTA’s PTA Connected initiative, which seeks to improve digital access and equity, digital safety and well-being, cyber security and digital literacy for all children through tailored programs, dissemination of resources and tools and community conversations.

Quorum: A minimum of 11 members must be present to conduct the election. Your attendance is vital!
Involvement: We are still seeking volunteers for secretary, chair positions and committees. If you are interested, please reach out.
Primary role of a secretary is taking meeting minutes and handling correspondence. We strongly urge current 6th grade parents to volunteer for the role, to assure continuity of the organization and easy transition, when the current 7th grade heavy board leaves the school after next school year. No experience necessary, we will guide you! Couple of hours a week commitment. Secretary is one of the 3 required positions for the non-profit to be able to continue.
Questions? Please contact the PTSA President at ptsa.njhs@gmail.com.
Dear Newark Middle School PTSA Members and Families,
NMS PTSA Board wanted to take a moment to send our warmest holiday wishes to you and your loved ones. We hope your holidays are filled with joy, rest, and time with the people who matter most.
Looking back on this first half of the school year, we are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
We held our first Car Show Fundraiser which raised $2.5K.
We donated $1,100 worth of classroom supplies to our teachers.
We held a successful fall campus beautification where we painted, weeded, and more.
6 Raspberry Pi computers were donated to the Python Club thanks to a Rotary Club Grant.
PTSA donated 5 new cafeteria posters.
So far we have awarded a total of $1,742 in grants to teachers to help with supplies and special projects.
We showed our appreciation for our teachers and staff by hosting a holiday luncheon.
None of it would have been possible without you.
We want to extend a sincere thank you for your incredible support:
For Volunteering: To those who gave their time to help with events - your energy keeps our school spirit alive.
For Participating: Thank you for showing up! Whether it was a general meeting, or a fundraiser - your presence strengthens our school community.
For Donating: Your financial contributions and material donations have directly supported mini grants, classroom supplies, staff holiday party and more - making a tangible difference for our students and teachers.
We are excited to return in January to continue supporting our students and staff. We have some wonderful events planned for the spring, and we can’t wait to share them with you soon.
Thank you for being such a vital part of the Newark Middle School family.
We wish you a very Happy New Year and a wonderful start to 2026!
With gratitude,
The NMS PTSA Board
